About the Artwork

Fashion has always aspired to fantasy, and so does "Vogue Cover, Autumn Fuschia, 1957," by renowned fashion photographer Norman Parkinson (1913-1990). The shot exudes glamour, power and femininity as the image of an elegant woman dressed in fuchsia haute couture is chauffeured about town in her color-coordinated fuchsia and pearly pink Rover 105. When Vogue reused the image in 1991, the cigarette had to be airbrushed out. The image is conveyed with a touch of humor and joie de vivre that add to its great appeal for vintage fashion lovers.
British photographer, Norman Parkinson's career commenced in 1935, with his first shooting focused on debutantes and their mothers. His association with British Vogue ran from 1942 to 1978. After his marriage to model Wenda Rogerson, he made annual trips to New York and worked for American Vogue. Parkinson was among the first photographers to shoot on location and was awarded the CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in 1981. His illustrious career is remembered for his captivating images of fashion and high society, as well as his photographs of the world's most celebrated men and women.
